Web site development

I charge an initial fee of $200 for dynamic sites* and $300 for static sites*, which covers preparation work. Preparation work includes my becoming acquainted with your company's operations as they relate to the web site's development. Costs for actual development vary depending on your needs.

Whether you need a static web site or a dynamic database-driven web site, I can provide you with affordable solutions using industry-standard open-source technologies.

I am experienced at ASP.NET, PHP, Perl, JavaScript, AJAX, MS-SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle. Generally, however, I use PHP and MySQL or PostgreSQL, as these are Open-Source and allow me to finish site development faster. I often mix PHP and Perl together.

All my web designs are 100% W3C standards compliant. This means I can guarantee your site will display properly across multiple browsers and platforms.

*NOTE: A static site only contains static content for informational display only. A dynamic site is database-driven and supports such features as an online store, guestbook or other such database-driven content. For more details, contact me.

Web hosting

Normally I charge $20/month to host your site.

However, if your organization needs a database-driven web site, the monthly fee increases to $40 to host your site and database connection. This is a customized solution where I host a MySQL database for your site.

Domain registration

Need to register a domain name? Domain registration is $15 a year. Up to 5 free email accounts are included.

Software development

Much software has been made already which your business may be able to use. Engineering software is a complicated process that requires a lot of testing to verify stability. While I do guarantee my software designs, I will help you investigate any possible software packages that are already in existence, as pre-built software is generally more cost-effective (though not always the proper solution) than custom software. Your own savings are a priority, and I will help you choose the most effective and affordable solution.

Network setup / troubleshooting

Generally, networking services start at $200 per job. Depending on the complexity of the network setup, I may raise this price.

Computer password reset

User account password resets on Windows machines are $100 per 5 accounts. Because the passwords are encrypted on the machine, the actual passwords cannot be retrieved, so a password reset is done instead.

Note that if Windows EFS (Encryption File System) is used, and a password is reset, any and all data under that reset account will be permanently lost. Because of the way Windows EFS works, it is impossible to reset passwords without losing data when using EFS. The customer is completely responsible for alerting me to the use of any and all encryption software or hardware being used. I cannot be held responsible for any damages or losses due to encryption, especially if I have not been properly alerted.

Before recovering passwords, I can do a full system backup in case of hard drive failure, if the customer requests so. Data backups start at an additional $100 for every 20 gigabytes of data. I have never witnessed a single hard drive fail on a password reset, but it must be taken into consideration. In the event of an operating system failure, I am usually able to completely restore your backup.
