Video tutorials

I'll be hosting a series of tutorials. The first set will focus on building Windows GUI applications in C#. After that, I plan to focus on building video games. I'll soon provide a link with videos, once I have the first one up.

By the way, I have a YouTube video channel at http://youtube.com/amdandcode. Enjoy!

Dell XPS 1530 laptop touchpad problem

When first released, the Dell XPS 1530 laptop had an annoying bug with its touchpad. While the machine was running, if the lid was closed and reopened, the touchpad would get glitchy. Dell finally released a BIOS update for this laptop model that fixes the problem once and for all. It can be downloaded from Dell Tech Support.

Crayon Physics Deluxe

If you're like me, and you enjoy games that make you think, but are also soothing, check out Crayon Physics Deluxe. This is a rather novel idea—not quite what you'd expect for a video game, but quite interesting and addicting when you start playing.

There are two versions available. You can get the original version from http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/games/crayon/. The original version only lets you draw basic shapes. The game's author, Petri Perho, is currently developing another version which allows advanced shapes to be drawn and more physics to be used. The site for the new version is available at http://www.kloonigames.com/crayon/.

Project ViDo Updates

Download YouTube videos and save them to your computer for offline viewing. Very simple and easy to use. NOTE: I just finished a new client version of ViDo for you all to use rather than using up my bandwidth—now you can use yours.

CyberPort Mail almost complete

I got too tired of waiting for time to develop my own web-based email interface, so I decided to use RoundCube instead—at least for the time being. The link to the email system is http://mail.thecyberport.net/. I haven't yet built the new user part, but I'm working on it. The plan is to integrate the user system for this site into the email system, so users can access all the features under that one account.

Project Orb to implement new multi-user oriented changes

Project Orb has been working rather nicely thus far. I have had one feature requested, however: some would like to see Orb turn into a multi-user based platform, similar to what YouTube has for video content. Orb now is rather simple: upload a file once and share it. I've decided to change Orb into a more user-centric system. After getting your free CyberPort account, you will have a user-customized version of Orb available to you.

The new Orb will be focused on providing more options to users such as deleting user files, renaming them, changing descriptions, tags, and a privacy mode. Instead of having files directly open to the public, files that are set to private will only be viewable by others via a password the user can set.

I'm loaded with lots of things to do, but this project revision is now my highest priority for this site.
